I wanted to share with you a TV show I did on the Feldenkrais Method. It includes an Awareness Through Movement lesson and a short history of the work.
Do You Feel “Stiff As A Board” When you Sit Up?
The lesson taught in this video involves rolling over and up to sit. Something we do every day. Among other things, we roll over in bed to get up. Principles in this exercise help make it much easier.
If you feel like a stiff board when you try to sit up from lying down it doesn’t have to be that way. As you can see in the video (below) it can be effortless. With focused attention, practice, and a kind attitude it even becomes fun!
What else you can learn from the video?
- For those of you who don’t know much about the history of the work there’s a nice introduction.
- For those of you who have never seen an Awareness Through Movement lesson (aka exercise) a trio of students demonstrate.
- For those of you who’ve never met me, this is kind of like me although much more formal (for TV you know…)
- For those of you who come to my programs the lesson taught here is one you may have never done before. (If you like it I can add it to our Fall series, just ask).
If you want help with stiffness or pain there is still room in the upcoming Fall series. Contact me to register. Programs start September 20th.
If hands-on treatment is what you need I’m available for individual appointments.
Enjoy. If you have any questions please ask.
