Have you ever noticed someone as you were out and about and they seemed to glow? You weren’t looking at what they were wearing or how they did their hair but somehow they radiated a sense of something that made them stand out.
What’s their secret?
There may be many reasons but I will speculate… Let’s say their body feels great. Easy, smooth and comfortable.
When your body feels comfortable, like your back doesn’t ache or you seem to bend over and pick things up easier I would venture to say your face is not all crunched up into a grimace. You look younger and feel calmer.
One way to find that kind of beauty is through Feldenkrais® lessons. The lessons and how they’re structured take you on a journey where you learn to give yourself a break from grimacing.
Giving ourselves a break is not a natural instinct. Do more push harder is part of our culture. But in order to feel comfortable in our body, we must be kind to ourself first. Pulling and pushing don’t do it.
What’s so amazing to me is how all of us need to learn this lesson. But eventually, with practice, we get better at not staining. The awareness of our body starts to stick and when we’re out and about and feel our self straining we’ve created the awareness of noticing and feeling what we’re doing.
And honestly, nobody, not me not you once you’re aware of how you feel when you’re straining you atomically back off from that strain and find that place of comfort. And yes it’s there that place of comfort. Often hidden under that louder noise of aches and pain.
